VENINI
Stained glass panel with bands and panes in mosaic glass with a tessuto of fine red, pagliesco, amethyst and lattimo canes.
Black lacquered metal structure.
In 1957 Paolo Venini had the idea to realize some large glass panels, with metal mounts, composed of smaller rectangles of glass in some of his typical patterns, like “tessuto”, “pennellate” or “pezzato”. These extraordinary objects had a great success, and were presented in several international exhibitions, including Triennale in Milan and Biennale d’ Arte in Venice.
Only a very few examples were realized, and it seems that Paolo Venini, in order to project them, took inspiration looking at some ancient stone walls in the island of Delos (Greece), and at the bark of some palm trees.
